He sat on a rock wall, with a cellphone in his hand and his hair still entangled with shaving cream - the remnants of a celebration following Bowling Green’s 1-0, seven-inning win over Lake County in game two of a doubleheader Friday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

In a season that has already seen a bit of history, Mateo gave the third-year franchise and the 3,846 fans in attendance another memorable moment - the first no-hitter in franchise history.

Mateo said it was the first no-hitter he has ever been a part of at any level.

“It’s so exciting,” Mateo said. “It’s like nothing in life. For people that love baseball, for pitchers, this is what you dream of - to throw a no-hitter. It feels so awesome.”
